Big things come from small things: kick-off of the "CoLab4DigiTwin" funding project
As the name suggests, it revolves around the digitalization of manufacturing processes using the digital twin. Faced with the challenge that a wide variety of systems (i.e. authoring systems) are used today, whose data (2D and 3D data) cannot be exchanged in a wide variety of formats, annotations and change requests must be coordinated via common communication channels and made manually on both sides in the systems. This is time-consuming, error-prone and particularly challenging with continuous synchronization. In addition, there is no joint 3D inspection of the digital space with the help of virtual or augmented reality, which makes joint collaboration even more difficult. Although this challenge is well known, the problem remains unresolved until now. And that is exactly what was addressed in a first innovation project and is now being further developed at federal level.
