  • It is not necessary to apply for several positions at the same time. In our application process, we always check whether your profile may also be of interest for other job advertisements.
  • If you are interested in several vacancies, you can either send us an unsolicited application or apply for the position you prefer and express your interest in other positions in the cover letter.

What form do the interviews take?

  • We primarily conduct our job interviews virtually via Microsoft Teams as a video interview.

What is the best way to prepare for my job interview?

  • Be yourself: In the interview, of course, we mainly want to get to know you as a person.

Will my personal data be treated confidentially?

  • Your data will of course be treated confidentially by us
  • For this reason, we ask you to submit your application exclusively via our applicant management system and not by e-mail or post
  • Our data protection declaration is automatically stored when the application is uploaded

How does the application process work?

The application process for students consists of 5 steps

Step 1: The application upload via our applicant management system

  • You can reach us via our careers page
  • You upload your documents and agree to the data protection declaration ( < 5 minutes)
  • You will then receive a confirmation of receipt by email

Step 2: The pre-selection:

  • Your documents will be activated for the department
  • HR and the department check your documents together

Step 3: The interview

  • Your interlocutors are your future supervisor and your HR contact Kristin Stoffel

Step 4: The final conversation

  • If there is a recommendation for employment, there will be a second interview with our managing director Dr. Dirk Werth and your HR contact
  • We will inform you of our final decision within the next 2 days

Step 5: The contract offer

  • Congratulations! You are now part of our team!

When can I expect an initial response?

  • After you have submitted your application online via our applicant management tool, you will immediately receive an automatic confirmation of receipt
  • We will then get back to you personally within a week

How long does the application process take?

  • Our application process currently takes an average of 31 calendar days
  • It is important to us to give you feedback as soon as possible. Sometimes the process can be delayed due to an increased need for coordination, but we would be happy to inform you about this

What are my working hours?

  • The working hours of our working students are flexible between 8 and 20 hours per week, so that you can ideally combine your working student activity and your studies
  • Working hours are based on trust, ie you decide for yourself when you want to work

Can I also work in the home office?

  • We offer all our employees the opportunity to work remotely, but this should be done in consultation with your supervisor
  • You are welcome to work in our office in the Scheer Tower and use our equipment there, but you also have the option of working from home

From what semester can I apply as a working student?

  • In general, we do not have any regulations as to the semester from which we hire working students
  • If you are a perfect match for our position and already have some experience, you are welcome with us, regardless of the number of semesters you have

Will I be given a topic for my thesis?

  • When it comes to finding a topic, we are completely open - regardless of whether you already have your own idea or are still undecided
  • We are always happy to hear your own suggestions
  • In a joint exchange, we will definitely find a topic that is suitable for you and for our institute

  • Our goal is to let you know our final decision within a month. Our application process currently takes an average of 37 calendar days. It is important to us to give you feedback as soon as possible. Sometimes the process can be delayed due to an increased need for coordination, but we would be happy to inform you about this.
