Future Prosumer Household

Due to the generally progressive electrification of household appliances and the continuously growing number of generation and storage systems in households, such as energy storage and electric vehicles, the flexibility potential of households is constantly increasing. This flexibility potential is becoming more and more important in view of the increasing volatility of the power grids. Due to the change in the electricity grid, network operators are increasingly facing major challenges with regard to the stable and secure operation of their networks. In the future, it will therefore be an important lever to tap the flexibility potential of households for grid stabilization and thus exchange the previously passive role of households in the energy grid for an active role. In the future, every household can make a contribution to the safe operation of the power grid and, as future prosumer households, play a central role in achieving the energy transition.

The digital process pass

Robert Bosch GmbH, particularly its location in Homburg, has established itself as a pioneer in the areas of energy management and energy efficiency in recent years. Due to the automotive industry changing towards a resource-saving circular economy, the transparent presentation of the CO2 emissions of their products became a central concern. One solution is a digital process passport prototype, developed in collaboration between the August Wilhelm Scheer Institute and the Energy Management Team at Bosch Homburg. This innovative tool enables process-accurate representation of CO2 emissions during production, starting with the “Rail” product category. The result offers Bosch unprecedented transparency over production processes and emissions to demonstrate the carbon footprint and enable continuous improvements.

Status and future of smart grid operations in the German distribution grid in the context of the energy transition

The transition from a traditional energy network to the energy network of the future (EDZ) is primarily driven by climate change [1]. As a result of international, European and national climate targets, more and more conventional power generation systems are being shut down and systems for renewable energies (RE) are being installed [2]. The problem with this is there will be periods of high energy production and periods of low energy production. Both pose an equal challenge for stable network operation [3]. As a result, the demands on network operation and congestion management [3, 4] are increasing, which is reflected in an increasing need for flexibility for stable network operation [3, 5].
