OekoProOf
Development of an IT system that transparently displays resource consumption and sustainability effects per order, allocates CO₂ emissions and thus shows savings potential for an efficient circular economy.
The OekoProOf project is based on a cross-sector IT system that makes resource consumption, resource efficiency, and sustainability impacts visible to companies and customers. The Digital Process Passport allows these parameters and the associated CO2 emissions to be precisely assigned to each order and process step. Thus, the system creates greater transparency, identifies savings potential, and is an essential component for quickly and efficiently establishing a circular economy.
Our role in the project
Taking into account societal interests, ecological and social customer requirements and economic objectives, energy and resource efficiency is shown and controlled in a holistic, simultaneous and order-specific manner. The main focus here is on a variable way of looking at things, which can be adjusted according to customer requirements (minimizing costs, maximizing sustainability or accelerating processes). Each process step can be individually analyzed and evaluated with regard to efficiency and resource consumption. There is also the option of monitoring and optimizing the CO2 balance of all work steps.
data points. These are recorded and controlled via measuring systems and smart sensors.
Digital process pass. It is responsible for the evaluation and intelligent efficiency control of energy and resource efficiency and is used for the innovative expansion of energy management and energy monitoring systems. In terms of software, the modular coupling is implemented using cloud software services as a microservice architecture.
The initial situation
Overview of the need for action
Society's steadily growing environmental awareness is increasingly impacting the economy. Rising energy costs, stricter requirements for proof of compliance, and customer demand for sustainable products and processes pose a challenge for many companies. For this reason, the circular economy is becoming increasingly important. There is therefore a need for a supporting solution that enables the precise allocation of resource-saving potential (economic and ecological) to specific processes and subsequently supports decisions based on business, market, and customer needs. This is precisely where the August-Wilhelm Scheer Institute with the project OekoProOf.

Our solution approach in focus
The challenge is to allocate emissions and energy consumption precisely to the process. A central component of the solution approach of the August-Wilhelm Scheer The Digital Process Passport, the heart of OekoProOf, is the institute's core tool. The Digital Process Passport serves as both a control tool for intelligent efficiency management and an evaluation tool. To provide the highest possible data quality, it utilizes process modeling, integration, resource consumption and resource efficiency modeling, as well as process tracking including forecasts and a decision support system.
