The digital twin enables interactive data retrieval and three-dimensional data visualization, which means that, for example, an inspection can be carried out ad hoc and independent of location. The employee does not have to travel to geographically distributed plants, nor are costly, point-by-point inspections necessary. This results in potential savings in travel costs and the time required. This conserves resources, reduces CO2 emissions, and relieves the burden on personnel or reduces the associated operational effort.

Our focus in the area of digital twins
In a high-performance IOT data platform, technical sensor data from plants are stored and enriched with additional information so that the data basis for automated monitoring is provided.
Set the course now to exploit the potential of a digital twin.
With the virtual reality application, it is possible to conduct a digital tour regardless of location and to interact with machines and data. The 360° live stream in the glasses combines audio and video data and thus provides a comprehensive insight into the situation on site.
We bring your eyes and ears climate neutral to any place.
The digital twin enables the analysis of data and the monitoring of systems to identify problems in advance, avoid downtime, ensure operational reliability and reduce personnel expenses.
Relieving the burden on specialist staff by minimizing travel times and bundling expertise without compromising quality.
With the help of AI-driven data services, the data can be automated, analyzed and interpreted. For example, the operating noise of a pump and the image data from the cameras can be monitored and evaluated in real time.
Fast and flexible realization: ad hoc and without loss of time.

Digital throughput
In a joint innovation project, Entsorgungsverband Saar and the August-Wilhelm Scheer Institute have developed a digital solution for the virtual inspection of wastewater plants. In principle, wastewater plants must be inspected regularly to ensure that the operational safety of this critical infrastructure is guaranteed. With virtual reality goggles and the technology of the digital twin, a location-independent inspection becomes possible, saving travel distances and time as well as reducing CO2 emissions. In this way, Entsorgungsverband Saar ensures the operational safety of its wastewater facilities while reducing operating expenses.

Digital twin: examples and advantages for mechanical engineering
Flow simulation data is embedded in space as 3D holograms and made interactively accessible with the help of mixed and virtual reality. In this way, faster and more efficient development of new prototypes is made possible, thus shortening the innovation cycle of new products. For the working world of the future, it will be crucial to digitally connect teams from all over the world and to work together in virtual worlds.

Using the digital twin for virtual inspection of industrial plants
Digital twins, i.e. virtual projections of physical objects and processes, offer companies numerous new potentials for the representation and analysis of their data. The Mittelstand 4.0 Competence Center Saarbrücken is supporting the Entsorgungsverband Saar (EVS) together with the August-Wilhelm Scheer Institute for Digital Products and Processes (AWSi) in the implementation of an innovative solution for the inspection of plants using digital twins and virtual reality technology. This pilot project demonstrates the application potential of a Digital Twin for SMEs.

Best Practice
Classical approaches to inspecting machines are resource-intensive, require specialized knowledge and can involve a lot of travel. A more efficient solution can be realized by using a digital twin. In which a digital image of a physically existing industrial plant is created, a visual inspection and condition survey of the machine can be performed from any location. Combined with the use of VR goggles, this gives the feeling of an on-site inspection, which current remote monitoring systems fall short of. In this webinar you will be informed live about the strategic added value as well as the functionality of a digital twin in combination with VR glasses for the inspection of industrial plants as well as a technology transfer at Entsorgungsverband Saar.
