Center for Digital Green Tech

Our location in Lower Saxony

Innovation goes green

The Center for Digital Green Tech has been our location in Lower Saxony since 2021 and is headed by Ellen Goel. This innovation center focuses on digitalization projects that enable sustainability and ecological change. We pursue an interdisciplinary approach and work across disciplines and sectors on systemic approaches to the key topics of smart energy, smart water cycles and smart circular economies. Digitalization is of particular importance: the transformation of industrial processes from a linear to a circular economy will only succeed with digitalization.

Focus areas

The focus is on the research and further development of circular economy based on a sustainable paradigm of action.

The greatest challenge of our time is to create a sustainable economy that uses finite resources intelligently. Our solution lies in the application of digital technologies. We transform industrial processes from a linear to a circular economy and give the sustainable cycle a digital impulse!

We have the vision of a sustainable cycle concept: supported by insects! By considering waste as raw materials and processing it as feed for insect production, for example using AI, it could then be used as insect proteins in animal feed.

We get you ready for the energy system of the future!

Intelligent solutions are in demand when it comes to the energy transition and the restructuring of the energy sector. The integration of private households into the network or the dynamic storage of energy are made possible through the use of digital technologies. Our range of topics extends from flexibility management, both large and small, to cross-industry and cross-departmental virtualization of power grids. We invest our energy in the power grid of the future!

With research concepts, industrial projects and partnerships, we contribute to digital solutions for intelligent, resource- and energy-efficient water management.

Platform for damage detection and forecasting in drinking water and sewer systems and a reliable AI method for water quality forecasting using reduced sensor technology.

“The key to climate neutrality lies in innovations and technologies. And we have to start thinking big in these areas,” said Ellen Goel in an interview in 2023. And that’s exactly what she wants to promote together with her team at the Center for Digital GreenTech. In many areas, Germany is currently not very efficient and innovative. “60 percent of the fresh water used in agriculture alone is lost through evaporation,” says Goel. The center would therefore like to analyze which innovations in the areas of “circular economy”, “smart energy” and “smart water” are possible or can be designed from research and industrial projects. These innovations can then be offered on the market as products or processes. DThe circular economy serves to save resources, energy, waste and emissions. Smart Energy and Smart Water include intelligent technologies in the areas of energy and water generation, storage, transmission and consumption control.
