The Center for Digital GreenTech is our site in Lower Saxony. The focus of this new innovation center is on digitalization projects that enable sustainability and ecological change. Together with Clausthal University of Technology, we pursue an interdisciplinary approach and work across disciplines and industries on systemic approaches for the key topics of Smart Energy, Smart Water Cycles and Smart Circular Economies. Digitization is of particular importance here: the transformation of industrial processes from a linear to a circular economy will only succeed with digitization. In order to achieve rapid results here, a “Real Lab for Circular Economy” is being set up.
Innovation goes green
Our main focus
Circular Economy
Circular Economy
Research and further development of circular economies in accordance with a sustainable action paradigm are the focus.
Smart Energy
Smart Energy
We virtualize the domestic energy grid and generate added value in terms of local energy generation, consumption and storage via Advanced Smart Services.
Smart Water Cycles
Smart Water Cycles
With research concepts, industry projects and cooperations, we contribute to digital solutions for an intelligent, resource- and energy-efficient water management.
The goals of the Center For Digital GreenTech
Data-based modeling and model-based control of recycling processes of digitally instrumented products and the establishment of a joint real laboratory ” Digitalization for a sustainable circular economy”. Sustainability and circular action are to permeate all areas from management to operations at TU Clausthal in the medium term. Aspects of the Circular Economy will be integrated into research, transfer, teaching and further education.
Energy use control through adaptive production planning to realize climate-neutral manufacturing, especially for energy-intensive industries and self-organizing grid-serving charging/storage infrastructures.
Platform for damage detection and prediction in drinking water and wastewater systems and a reliable AI method for water quality prediction using reduced sensors.
Background
Digitalization means that more and larger volumes of data are being processed, which requires data centers and thus electricity. As a result, not only is the consumption of raw materials and resources rising steadily, but the quantities of electronic waste are also increasing. To make the digital transformation sustainable, it must be designed and managed in a targeted manner. When sustainability and digitalization are brought together, there is also talk of “Green IT,” energy-saving communications and information technology. In order to make sustainable use of modern, digital technology and the associated data, production processes must be designed more efficiently and smart grids must be established. With the help of such smart data and augmented reality, the immediate environment and surroundings, for example the changes caused by climate change, can be better understood and knowledge transfer can be made vivid. This results in the design of innovative production processes, which in turn allows climate protection measures to be derived and raw materials to be saved. After all, the energy turnaround can only promise a sustainable future if certain restrictions are adhered to and controlled.
