Employees in the skilled trades are over-proportionally exposed to physical stress and hazards, which often means that their work is characterised by high physical demands. Consequently, sickness and accident rates are relatively high, which culminates in employees leaving the workforce early due to illness. The resulting damage to productivity is enormous. At the same time, the construction industry is the front-runner in occupational accidents.
The causes for the illnesses and partly also for the high accident rate are justified in it, that the everyday life in the trade often simply does not satisfy the requirement to consider and include the individual history of the skilled- tradesmen and their concrete procedure with the execution of an activity.
